What's the best art based experience you have ever had?

Hmm, i suppose it goes back to my first year of graffiti - 2001, when i painted a woman with an embryo holding a baby with a spraycan in his hands in a tram tunnel in Sofia just before NY 2002. Then i went back to Germany to study further and few days later i got an email from a close friend with my piece on the cover of a bulgarian magazine. He had to stole it and scan it for me: ) Soon after that another friend of mine told me how fascinated he was by that piece while we were going to school, he didn't know I'd painted it. That gave me the courage to continue painting.

Where's home?

Home is where my head lays, but it's mostly Sofia, my home town.

How did this all start for you?

Very accidently. I was looking for something in a library back in 2000 when i saw a book entitled Graffiti Art #8, i opened it and said to myself - that's what you'll be doing next...

What types of art do you like?

Art with quality and sense of humor.

What would you really like to be able to do?

To draw decently haha

Recommend a song, a book and a film.

anything by the Beastie boys
anything by Kurt Vonnegut
Kontroll - 90s hungarian movie about the surreal life in the metro system there

I can see a child like sense of fun to your art would you say that is fair?

True story, i try to keep the child in me while painting. It really keeps me young and alive in a way.

What are you working on now? What's next?

I am working as an architect in an NGO, we try to keep it up transformatori.net/

22 Grégoire Orio - Dawn

And I would like to post the poem "Qui suis-je" written by Antonin Artaud

Qui suis-je ?
D’où je viens ?
Je suis Antonin Artaud
et que je le dise
comme je sais le dire
immédiatement
vous verrez mon corps actuel
voler en éclats
et se ramasser
sous dix mille aspects
notoires
un corps neuf
où vous ne pourrez
plus jamais
m’oublier.
I would like to nominate one of my friends, who is a french photographer, Mustapha Azeroual, especially for his work called alterations.

17 - Megan Diddie - Psychedelic Succulents

Down the Last Coast

The bluebells stretch from play-dough colored rock
Along this foggy coast cozy like a sweater
Thrifted from prior generations of Shaggy dog style
Imaginations of arrival
In a place like this

Switched myths of coastal flora
Views of the past
Colors radiate from seeds
to sky through different air

I’m southbound searching through the road
Passing by the vistas no tourist misses
Braided palms around the wheel
Keep my attention
A memory flat like a photograph

15 - Clément Paillardon

Open up the broken cup
Let goodly sin and sunshine in
Yes that's today.
And open wide the hymns you hide
You find renown while people frown
At things that you say
But say what you'll say
About the farmers and the fun
And the things behind the sun
And the people around your head
Who say everything's been said
And the movement in your brain
Sends you out into the rain.
Nick Drake

And I would like to nominate a good friend of mind Gegoire Orio from Paris, who is making music and experimental video clips. Take a look if you have the time.

I like people
People like me

People don´t always like me
I don´t always like people

They are all around me
and I am all around them

They make strange noises
as I do when I am alone

Someone would call it a Zoo

I love beasts.

10 Alberonero - Campogalliano | Modena

Black wall.
One green window.
Gray sky.
Many tiles with moss.
Nonna Luciana, in Italian, cooking the typical "tortellini".
Sara is beautiful.
The composition slanted white is the axis of reflection of the window.
This situation creates another window overturned that gives balance to the wall.

3 Bob May - Idée fixe

In making my collages I restrict myself to using only actual original illustrations from old books. Until last year this meant that my supply of material was very sparse. But I have now found the place where all the old books that nobody wants, that no-one can sell, end up.

They are sent to this warehouse from charity shops nationwide. They arrive in huge lorries, packed in sacks. Inside the warehouse about forty people sort them out, to the accompaniment of the beeps from the fork-lift trucks that whizz backwards and forwards all the time. Some are “old books”, or “pre-ISBN” and these are sent to the corner of the warehouse where the majority are deemed unsellable and are thrown into a skip. These skips are hoisted into the back of a huge bulk-carrying lorry and sent off to become cardboard.

But one day a week I stand by that skip and rescue the odd old book. I might remove only one illustration from a single book, or I might remove a dozen. In my improvised studio at home I store the thousands of pictures salvaged and I stare at them until they talk to me.

In my small way, and as a hobbyist, I hope to entertain people and to stimulate ideas and feelings through my collages. I have found collage to be capable of more expression than I had imagined, but a good deal of thought and feeling has to be poured into it before anything of quality comes out.

Most of the amateur collage that I see on the photo-sharing website that I use strikes me as empty and cheap, not to mention ugly. I hope that I may be influential in raising the standards of collage work to some degree.

I would only nominate Federico Hurtado.

2 Alex Chiu - Bird, Bunny, Bear and Monkey

I usually have no idea what I’m going to draw before I start a piece.
I’ve developed a vocabulary of patterns, characters, objects,
and symbols that I utilize throughout the drawing process,
but the main objective is to fill white space until a picture appears.
It has become a process of surprising myself and not being afraid
to draw something in a way I haven’t before.  In this way, when
I have given up the idea that a piece is supposed to look a certain way,
I can tap into a part of the universe that reveals things to me that
I have never seen or understood before.
This is how I believe an artist grows.

-- Alex Chiu, May 2011

1 Chris Murtagh - Each Bright Morning

Chris Murtagh

With each step you may wander further off from your original idea, that's ok, that idea was just before your first step, and you're now just before your next one.
